School Board elections - Early Voting begins Monday, April 28 and runs through Tuesday, May 6
The Whitesboro ISD School Board Election is set for Saturday, May 10, 2008.
Precincts 6,7,and 8 in Cooke County and 24, 25, & 26 in Grayson County will vote at the Whitesboro City Hall from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Precincts 19 & 22 will vote at the Gordonville Community Center from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Early Voting begins April 28, 2008 and runs through May 6, 2008. Anyone wishing to early vote can do so at the WISD Administration Bldg from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on the days mentioned.

Snow Day in March results in change to the WISD Calendar.
A snow day in March has resulted in a change to the WISD calendar. Classes will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008. Please update your calendar to reflect this change.

Directions on the New Maintenance Work Order Request Form.
Directions
You will need to save a copy of the Maintenance Work Order Request in your documents or on your desktop. To do this, open the document; go to “File”; select “Save as”; select “My Documents” or “Desktop” as the site where you will save the request form; name the saved document “WORK ORDER REQUEST Template.” Once you have the template saved, you may go to it at any time and fill out a Work Order Request. Your computer will fill in the day’s date for you. Once the request is filled in, save it with a specific name by going once again to “File,” selecting “Save as,” and giving the request a name such as “Work Order Request—2-6-08” or whatever name you need to be able to find the request later. You will then go over to Microsoft Outlook and start a new email to Roy Taylor or Ken Carden with a Cc to me. Click on the paper clip at the top of the page and select the saved document from “My Documents.” Click on “Insert.” Outlook will attach the document. Then you select “Send” to send the document to Roy or Ken with a copy coming to me.

Parents sign up now for instant notifications regarding school closings and delays.
In the event of inclement weather conditions school may be closed or the starting time delayed. Any school closing will be announced on radio and television stations: KLAK Radio 97.5 FM, WBAP Radio 820 AM, KGAF Radio, KXII TV Ch. 12, KTEN TV CH. 10, KXAS TV Ch. 5 and KDFW Ch. 4. If an announcement is not made you may assume school is in session.
Whitesboro ISD Emergency Communications
Whitesboro ISD is implementing a new system for emergency communications using electronic media (computers and cell phones) as the communication tools. The vendor we have selected for this process is FlashNews.net through Region 10 ESC.
This system allows the District to communicate its emergencies, like weather closures, to its staff, employees and other interested subscribers DIRECTLY to their home computers and personal cell phones via text message. In that way the staff and parents receive the emergency information at the same time that the news media does. Therefore, you will not have to sit in front of your home television set waiting to see if Whitesboro ISD is closing. A closure message will come directly to your home devices within five minutes of being sent out. It also allows for announcement of non-closure emergency or information like electricity outages.
Whitesboro ISD would like for as many staff members and parents as possible to sign up to receive emergency information by this system. This sign-up is voluntary; however, for the system to work adequately and get the information to as many persons as possible, we need as many staff members and households as possible to sign up for this process. So...everyone who can (those with home computers and/or cell phones) is encouraged to register.
All cell phone numbers and home computer e-mail addresses are maintained at an off-site server. Whitesboro ISD will not know who has signed up---only how many have signed up. Your home computer and cell phone are protected and will not be available to any online or text messaging marketers. This is part of the agreement with the vendor.
To register, please follow these directions in detail:
1. Sign on to www.flashalert.net.
2. Click on the Dallas Button on the map.
3. Click on Grayson & Collin County Schools.
4. Click on Whiteboro ISD
5a. Staff Members Only: At the prompt enter your Whitesboro ISD e-mail address. (The reason is that you will likely manage your account from your work desk rather than home.)
5b. Parents and Households Only: At the prompt enter your home e-mail address.
6. At the prompt, reenter your Whitesboro ISD e-mail address (staff) or your home e-mail address (parents).
7. Under Add an Organization Select: Dallas/Ft. Worth/North
8. Under Select choose: Grayson & Collin Co Schools.
9. Under Organization select: Whitesboro ISD.
10. Click on the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON. NOTE: THIS IS IMPORTANT! IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, YOUR REGISTRATION WILL NOT WORK.
11. Add up to FOUR additional addresses to receive emergency information, i.e., home computer e-mail address, cell phone address (follow directions posted), spouse office computer e-mail, etc. NOTE: In signing up your cell phone for text messaging, there are SEVEN providers listed (Cingular/AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Nextel, Qwest, and Alltel). Be sure and enter your CELL PHONE NUMBER PRIOR TO ENTERING THE @STEM OR IT WON'T WORK. Also, if you want to register a cell phone and do not have one of these providers, please let us know by return e-mail and we will pursue registration.
12. Click on the RED LINE to send a test message. One should appear within five minutes on your computers and your cell phone.
13. Log out (last line on the left navigation bar.)
14. You're done and ready to receive emergency messages at home from Whitesboro ISD. They will appear as "info@flashalert.net."
